Keyword Research Tool | Semantic SEO

April 15th, 2008

semantic seo When it comes to Search Engine Marketing and Keyword research, nothing is more important than knowing the ‘neighborhood’.

We think we’ve made it easy with our latest offering: Touch Cloud

I used to find it difficult, using the usual SEO Tools, to determine which anchor text best reflected the website when building links . So, probably the way most SEO solutions start, we set out to solve this problem as well as build something that was both effective and intuitive.

Quick Keyword Research Tool

It’s simple … if you are optimizing a website, then you must find all competing and supporting keywords. In other words, get to know the neighborhood. We’ve made it easy, Just enter your keyword phrase to instantly produce beautiful Clouds AND link structure, then generate content from the cloud (information pulse - not available with free edition). Click inside the cloud to investigate the neighborhood and produce spectacular relevant keyword phrases as tagged links.

What is Microformating?
Microformating provides a method of decentralized Taggingare you tired of visiting dozens of social networking sites to bookmark your favorite pages?

There are things on this page that you will not see unless you have the Firefox Microformat extensions installed.

tag cloud

This fast new solution generates Microformatted ‘clouds of relevance’ and … stay tuned as we continue to support Semantic Web initiatives such as SIOC and Scot Ontology’s. Every day, we contemplate ways to accurately present the true meaning of a site, without major investments from webmasters. Most web sites are not Semantic Web friendly or even aware but clearly all web sites contain Domain specific ‘knowledge’, the recent debates suggest that most will not bend to the requirements of coding meta-data into their pages. This is why we decided to pursue a ‘Top Down’ Semantic Web Application approach.

Organic Search has been completely nuts lately, with reports that the top SE has lost control of its data, a reminder that the search paradigm is liquid. There are a few impressive trailblazers in the Semantic Web solution space but SemWeb still is a bit too much science for most. Nobody can really dispute the value of a web that can perform some level of Artificial Intelligence, still few are willing to accomodate it.

At RSS, we say, Bring on the ‘Intelligent web’ … we are ready . Are you?

Affordable SEO

December 4th, 2007

Folks,

For many, the question is “Where can I find Affordable SEO Services”? For others, they may be asking “Can I afford to keep my current SEO provider”? When it comes to SEO Prices, it is all about return on investment (ROI), there are tremendous opportunities for web marketers in Organic Search but do your Search Marketing specialists advise you of trends in Semantic Web technologies? The point is, what you are really paying for is an SEO firms current knowledge and constant research of Search Marketing methods. If SemWeb is not part of their vocabulary, they probably aren’t doing the necessary research.

As our Forum approaches 100 users (many entitled to premium services) we begin to notice a trend of entrepreneurs interested in ways they can use SemWeb tools to improve SE rankings.

Look no further, finding cutting edge web specialists (semantic web engineers) could not be easier … just ask in our Forum and there is a good chance someone will help you make sense of it all.

Semantic Web Content Management System

October 17th, 2007

NEW:
This project has moved into the ‘SEYE’ phase, adding the central control module.

For our purposes, the MindMap (Brain) is a start point and an end point, it can have branches and may contain annotations or website scrapes (simile). You may apply any rules you wish to its construction, for example, I tend to put ‘things to do’ in a cloud on the right and ‘things to think about’ in a cloud on the left. It is an Ontology. ‘Lenses’ may be applied to illuminate data, facilitate protocol etc. there are many planned options.

The Semantic Field (TagCloud) is configurable, it shares the Ontology/s and can be a control point for aggregation (RDF and non-RDF), the inference layer and the tree (publishing), hence it is a CMS. Ontology’s may be loaded and unloaded, modified and shared.

SEO is Dead

August 8th, 2007

I’ve been reading various articles that make this claim lately and to some extent, I believe it is true. I don’t think it is time to abandon Organic Search strategies altogether but it is certainly time to consider some new methodologies. While we use ‘conventional’ SEO software packages everyday, we’ve come to rely on new web solutions, many are demonstrations of Semantic Web Technologies. Probably the most impressive offering is the OpenLink Software suite Virtuoso. There is a great demonstration of the OAT API and SPARQL from OpenLink that we use often, the OpenLink RDF Browser. We use the SVG graph feature to see how we can improve the way our linkage looks to Web 3.0 services.

We also consult the Semantic Data Extractor to improve our machine readability and Quintura is an essential part of our keyword discovery cycle. We develop tools ‘in house’ that compliment these technologies because we believe Web 3.0 is upon us. The interesting thing for us is that you hear so little about it in SEO circles, instead it’s the same old story, beg for links and work your meta tags. Admittedly, we are talking about emerging technologies and the final cut is far from complete but the movement towards xml and xslt seems to have gained momentum recently and we are finding new and useful transforms almost every day. Some web 2.0/3.0 methods are kinda messy, for example xFolk and eRDF and some are nice and clean like OPML auto-discovery and xslt’s.

I guess the best way to bring folks who are not familiar with ‘the revolution’ up to speed would be to recommend that you have a look under the hood of our home page; Website Promotion, go ahead, scrape the page. There, we demonstrate how FOAF, Dublin Core, OPML Auto-discovery, GRDDL and other machine readable formats can be used with HTML/XHTML. In many cases, it is as simple as calling a transform. In the beginning, we did most of it by hand, then we discovered Virtuoso which appears to tackle just about any machine readable format you can think of … effortlessly.

I know there are a lot of acronyms in this entry, this was intended as a top level document. We will drill down on these technologies in future installments and we will even discuss the Ontology project. For now, lets say that we rely on organic search to drive traffic Today but Semantic Interlinking is taking shape and makes proper sense in the effort to bring relevancy to web search.

For those who haven’t quite made the paradigm shift yet … we are just advocating a balance between human readable and machine readable web content, this idea is not new, consider meta tags as the first attempt at description, then think about how web services can improve the way interested people can find your web site.

To sum up, SEO is dying, there is no question of that, perhaps it is not quite dead yet but the web has the capability of discovering itself and Search Engines should take heed that their services will no longer be required one day. Unless your practicing SEO trickery, a short term strategy at best, there is great promise of relevancy for the future of web search.

Our advice is as always … offer real value, be honest with your site descriptions, take steps to ensure that your visitors find what they were looking for when they arrive … and embrace some new methods to expose your content to ‘the machine’.

seo tools and tips

Tag Cloud Generator

We just added xFolk support to our Tag Cloud Generator. It just seemed like the logical thing to do (comments?). The Tag Cloud Tool is designed to be easy to use and edit, most TC tools available on the web just did not satisfy my requirements so I created this one. We do ask that you keep the link to our site in the html, but hey - it’s your code - do whatever you like with it. If you want something fancier, we suggest the xFolk Cloud Tool. You can find all our tools here.

‘Out of the box’ your tag clouds will link to Technorati but here are some ideas:
If you have a Wordpress Blog, you could perform a Search and Replace (using wordpad) on the outputted html code, simply replace ‘http://technorati.com/tags/’ with ‘http://yourdomain/yourblogdirectory/search/’. Now the tag cloud indexes your blog.

Here is another cool idea: Search/Replace ‘http://technorati.com/tags/’ with ‘http://www.touchgraph.com/TGGoogleBrowser.php?start=’, your tag cloud will then access the touchgraph tool for visual Google relationships.

You get the idea, you could also send it to technorati kitchen (now that it is microformated) instead of straight to technorati. Be sure and ping your page at pingerati (we have a cool piece of code that will do that automatically).

So what’s next at RELAX SEO Services? We will begin supporting SIOC in our tools, eRDF and other cool Semantic Web stuff. We need to finalize some projects so we can clear the way for this but stay tuned for more news.

xfolk cloud v0.5 beta released

June 20th, 2007

Guys,

We have (as usual) been really busy around here, what with new releases and new tools, nobody is getting much sleep. First, I wanted to announce the new version of the xFolk Cloud Generator v0.5 (I think you’re gonna like it) … but we’ve also added some new tools. We also have some new alliances that continue to make us stronger.

Tag Cloud

I wasn’t going to do this but … here is a bit of a brain dump from the think factory here. We think that ‘Tagging’ is like ‘Candy Cigarettes’, A way to get people smoking/thinking ‘Classification Theory’, we know that the only real way to SEO nowadays is RELEVANCE RELEVANCE RELEVANCE, and there are just too many flaws in Tagging to ensure a lasting value. Semantic Inter-linking will most likely rule the day … like a localized phone book … you subscribe to the cloud and have your info on tap. If you don’t know about SIOC (semantic web) well, your reading the wrong Blog, best you find some SEO guru who will tell you that ‘on the page SEO’ is out and begging for links is ‘in’.

‘On the page’ is back stronger than ever - but perhaps not the way most SEO’s think - I won’t ‘give away the store’ here but it simply depends on what you are doing with your ‘on the page’ optimization, yes, Meta’s won’t get you very far anymore but if you are a client of ours - then you know how to optimize your ‘on the page’ so you are guaranteed participation in the ‘new web’.

Yes, it is a new web, the fixes are in to correct the failures of the past. I would be so bold as to say that search as we know it is a joke (and just getting funnier everyday). We do care about Organic Search for all the obvious reasons but we have always cared more about conversion and you just ain’t gonna convert someone who arrived by mistake.

I guess if you stay tuned to this channel I will continue to accidentally slip a bit of cutting edge Strategy … it seems none of the other SEO’s are talking about it … but things have changed so dramatically in this field, that you can just throw your old SEO howto books away.

We stay busy … so you can have a leisurely day.
